Narrative:Ron currently is a board member of CIRA, which manages the .CA domain. He is on the Executive Committee, is chair of the Audit Committee was the initial chair the Technical Oversight Committee. Ron is available for similar roles with other firms.
Before becoming an independent consultant in 1993, he was at IBM, Bell Canada, BNR, CN/CP(Allstream) and finally back with IBM/ISM. He was the founding President of the Canadian Association of Internet Providers (CAIP).
Ron has extensive Telecom and Internet consulting experience in both Canada and the US. Representative consulting projects include:
Consultant to end-user organizations re: cost optimization, and the impacts of organizational change and deploying new technologies. Providing Telecom and Internet industry management, technical and operational due diligence expertise to major investment firms in the US and Canada. e.g. such as determining synergies in a potential $1B merger of two network service providers. Conducting ongoing independent customer satisfaction research and reviews across the US.
Assisting outsourcing firms in refining and negotiating an agreements for full network-outsourcing contracts.
Conducting telecom tariff monitoring services and network benchmarking studies.
Consultant to two of Canada's pioneering flat-rate voice long-distance firms. Projects included network optimization and reconfiguration, technology evaluation, billing and OSS systems, staff selection and regulatory intervention.
Consultant to equipment manufacturers, telcos and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) on a wide variety of industry related issues.
Several projects in wireless such as assisting major players in national LMCS and PCS license applications, developing a wireless strategy for a large university, evaluation of mobile wireless data technology/opportunity for a mobile telephone services provider.
